Community Memorial Hospital’s Maternal Child Health Department offers a series of educational classes designed to help expectant and new parents and their families have positive birthing experiences and healthy family relationships.

Community Memorial Hospital’s Maternal Child Health Department offers a series of educational classes designed to help expectant and new parents and their families have positive birthing experiences and healthy family relationships. The classes offered are:Pre-Birth( Maternity Orientation: Tours of the Maternal Child Health Department are offered in English every Monday evenings at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., with the exception of holidays, in the 7th floor maternity classroom. Tours in Spanish are offered on the fourth Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in the 2nd floor maternity classroom. There is no fee or registration required.* Prepared Childbirth: This course helps expectant mothers and their coaches prepare for the labor and delivery process, care of their newborn and breastfeeding. These classes are offered in an evening series, weekend series and a one-evening refresher class.* Sibling Class: This class helps prepare siblings ages 2 through 8 for the arrival of a new baby brother or sister.Safety* Pediatric CPR: Learn how to make your home environment safe for a young child, how to prevent accidents, and how to administer CPR to an infant or child.
* Supersitter: Children 11 years and older learn to be responsible babysitters and learn about infant and pediatric CPR.Post-Birth* Mommie and Me (Bittie Babies): Become part of a caring support group for parents with babies up to 4 months old. Learn tips and ways to cope with the emotional, social, and physical transitions into parenthood.* Mommie and Me (Bigger Babies): This class offers support and parenting tips to parents of babies 3 to 7 months of age.* Infant Massage: Learn how to communicate and cue into your baby’s needs through loving touch and create stronger parent-infant bonds.To register or for more information, please call 658-BABY (658-2229).
