Evelyn R. Allen Evelyn R. Allen, 87, of Tulare, CA, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2004 after a brief illness. Mrs. Allen was born November 3, 1916 in Enloe, Texas, and after high school days she met and married J. G. Allen, and in 1947 they moved to California.In California Mrs. Allen was a homemaker. She loved her church, “Chapel of Praise” Santa Paula, and was the last of the charter members. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, playing the piano, and especially activities with her family.Mrs. Allen is survived by her son, Cal (wife Jean) Allen of Bouse, Arizona; daughter, Gayle (husband Phil) Akin of Tulare, CA; sisters, Doyle White of Ennis, Texas, Ann Millsap of Freeport, Texas, and Helen Maynard of Oxnard; brothers, Bob Huie of Benton, Arkansas and Edsel Huie of Ropesville, Texas; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her husband, J. G. Allen, sisters Melba Jordan and Delphine Huie, brothers J. T. Huie and Donnie Huie, and parents R. T. and Sallie Huie.Services will be on Friday, February 6 at 10 a.m. at Pierce Brothers Stetler Mortuary, with Pastor Phil Akin officiating.Arrangements are under the direction of Pierce Brothers Stetler Mortuary, 128 S. 8th St., Santa Paula, 525-5595.Death Notices
