Man arrested as suspect
for Ventura car burglary

A Santa Paula man suspected of burglarizing a car parked in a public structure in Ventura’s downtown was arrested early Saturday morning just off Highway 126.

According to Ventura Police, dispatchers received a 911 call June 21 shortly before 3 a.m. from someone who said they witnessed the suspect break into their vehicle in the downtown Ventura parking structure.

The multi-story parking structure is located in the 500 block of East Santa Clara Street.

The victim told police the suspect then got into a vehicle and sped off towards the 101 Freeway at a high rate of speed. The victim provided police a description of the vehicle.

Additional officers monitored the freeway and police eventually caught up to the vehicle when it headed east on Highway 126; when the vehicle exited at Kimball Road police initiated a felony enforcement stop.

A field lineup was conducted and the man in the vehicle was positively identified as the suspect. Ventura Police also found property stolen from the victim’s vehicle in the possession of the suspect.

Arrested was 39-year-old Manuel Alamillo of Santa Paula; he was booked at Ventura County Jail on charges of suspected vehicle burglary, possession of stolen property and burglary tools, and reckless driving.
