Great art is a Santa Clara River Valley tradition and East meets West at Blanchard Community Library, where the Santa Paula Society of the Arts is hosting an exhibit of the Artists Guild of Fillmore.

A free reception for the Artists Guild exhibit will be held Thursday, June 26 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the library, located at 119 N. 8th St.

The guild, which includes SPSA members, has installed more than 60 artworks at the library exhibit, said Karen Scott Browdy.

“The show reflects the skills of the artists in a variety of mediums, watercolor, acrylic, drawing, oil, mixed mediums and collage,” in the exhibit.

It is the third year the Santa Paula Society for the Arts has invited the Fillmore Guild to display its work at the library for the months of June and July; the show will run through July 24.

Artists Karen Scott Browdy, Judy Dressler, Lady Jan Faulkner, Lois Freeman-Fox, Joanne King, Wana Klasen, Virginia Neuman, Doris Nichols,  Luanne Perez and Lia Verkade are featured in the exhibit displayed on the Douglas Shively Memorial Wall at the library.

All of Artists Guild of Fillmore members are award-winners - including taking prizes in the annual Santa Paula art society sponsored Santa Paula Art & Photography Show - and the works of many are in private and cooperate collections.

The Artists Guild of Fillmore was founded in 2009 to create interest in original work created by local artists.

The art may be viewed during regular library business hours Monday,

Tuesday and Thursday, noon to 8 p.m., Wednesday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Blanchard Community Library is closed Friday and Sunday and holidays.
