The Optimist Club encourages everyone to visit the library. If you have not done so and if you are using the library, please consider donating funds to purchase more books for the library.
Optimist Club donates books to
the library “Teen Center”
The Optimist Club of Santa Paula was very happy to present a large donation to the Blanchard Community Library for the purchase of books for the Teen Reading Center. The donation was from the Optimist Club and from members of the Optimist Club.
For many years the Optimist Club, known as the “Friend of Youth,” has donated funds to the Library to purchase books for the Children’s Section. For the last two years they have changed the emphasize to the new Teen Reading Center. The teenagers are using the center and there is a high demand for books that are specific to their age group.
In addition, recently the Optimist Club members have become more involved with projects at the Library to enrich children’s lives, encourage reading, and their awareness of the Library. These projects included the sunflower plant growing contest last year, the 2013 Christmas Parade theme which was “Everyday is Christmas at the Library,” and the Grand Marshall was Ilene Gavenman, the Children’s Librarian.
