Ramona Sandoval 

Ramona Sandoval passed away peacefully at the age of 79 on December 16, 2013. Dona Ramona or Mona as many knew her by was born in Bellavista, Nayarit, Mexico on December 9, 1934. In 1960 she came to Oxnard, CA to join her husband Armando Sandoval (deceased), in hopes of a better life for the family.  Her dream was for her children to have an opportunity for a higher education which she saw full filled not only in her own children but in her grandchildren.

Filled with an entrepreneurial spirit she opened her first restaurant alongside her husband in 1970. She owned Mona’s Café in downtown Oxnard for 20 years. They later came to Santa Paula and opened El Taco Loco until her retirement in 2005. She had a passion for family and business that was passed to future generations in her son Adan Sandoval; owner of La Terraza in Santa Paula, and Jaime Sandoval of Fresh Mex Bar and Grill in Oxnard. She loved to cook with love and everyone knew when they tasted her dishes.  She was kind and always made sure that whether in her restaurants or at home you were never hungry. Everyone who walked through her doors was a greeted friend.

With great love, and hopes of continuing the kind and hardworking spirit; She is survived by her children, Adan (Lesvia) Sandoval, Armando (Martha) Sandoval, Alberto Sandoval, Jaime (Concepcion) Sandoval, and Mariela Sandoval; Along with 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
