It’s going to be plenty of food, frolic and footwork at Saturday’s Moonlight at the Ranch VII: “Disco Fever!” where guests will “Burn, Baby, Burn” at Limoneira Ranch, an event that is close to being a sell out.
The decade was known for its beautiful women and one of the most admired was Moonlight Special Guest is Deborah Shelton, Miss USA 1970 and star of Brian De Palma’s classic “Body Double” and later Mandy, J.R. Ewing’s mistress on the hit show “Dallas”.
“The support of our ‘Disco Fever!’ event has been overwhelming,” said Moonlight Chairman and Santa Paula Fire Chief Rick Araiza.
“Of course I would like to believe its because most of the proceeds of our celebration, each year Ventura County’s signature event, benefit the nonprofit Santa Paula Police and Fire Foundation,” and Chamber of Commerce.
But Araiza admitted, “I think the theme and the opportunity to dance the night away to great Disco era tunes, plus some modern ones that mirror the mirror ball music that dominated the 70s probably has a lot to do with it!”
Men on the Moon will again entertain at Moonlight at the Ranch and the famed band promises a show that everyone - from Disco Divas to all those Tony Moreno wanna-bes - will love.
Recorded Disco tunes will start the evening at 5:30 p.m. at Limoneira “Do The Hustle Park” where guests will enjoy no host bars and hors d’oeuvres. At 6:15 p.m. there will be an exciting “Disco Dance-Off” where contestants will shake-shake-shake to be judged by audience applause.
At 7 p.m. guests will boogie down to the Courtyard AKA Club Claire de Lune for a Disco experience that includes “Munchies” AKA tastings from dozens of fine restaurants, bakeries and caterers and more no-host bars featuring numerous libations including legendary Karl Strauss beers.
The boogie will continue to roll at 8 p.m. when Men on the Moon take to the stage with a special Disco skit and dynamite sets of dance music that will last until 11 p.m. when the Moonlight ends.
A Silent Auction and Chinese Raffles will round out the Disco evening offering unique opportunities such as bidding on a Day With the SPPD SWAT Team/Santa Paula Fire Department Fire House Dinner, vacations (Windfall Farms wine getaway, Primm, KOA or choose your own destination with Southwest Airline tickets!), numerous golf packages at the finest courses in the county, bundles of fun things to do in Santa Paula and Ventura, Disco Gift Basket and others! There are plenty of prizes to go around for persistent bidders and raffle ticket buyers who can choose which items they want to have the lucky number on.
The Silent Auction will close and Raffles tickets drawn at 9 p.m. The results of the auction and raffles will be posted (NOT announced) at the prize tables.
Araiza noted that the event is verging on being a sellout: “If people want tickets they better boogey down to any of our ticket sellers or charge tickets by phone which will be held in Will Call.”
Tickets to Moonlight at the Ranch are only $60, “A real bargain for such a spectacular night of fun. We hope everyone will join us at this wonderful celebration,” Saturday’s Moonlight at the Ranch VII: “Disco Fever!”
“Moonlight,” said Araiza, “is like no other event... no matter our theme, people have an unforgettable evening!”
Many attendees will be rocking Disco-themed attire or attending as characters of the era, but come as you are most comfortable.
