The Cardinal varsity, led by almost 300 rushing yards and four touchdowns from Noah Magana, easily beat the Hueneme Vikings Friday, 50-10 in a game played at the Hueneme field.
Magana, a junior running back, was assisted by the offensive line which cleared the way for him. Last year Santa Paula also beat the Vikings in a high-scoring 60-47 game at Santa Paula.
Magana wasn’t alone in scoring. Daniel Kohr took a 30-yard pass for a 13-yard TD from quarterback Christian Garcia in the second quarter. He scored on another pass with 3:22 left on the clock. The Vikings could only manage a field goal in the first quarter. They got their only touchdown in the second quarter with 50 seconds left on the clock. The half ended with the Cards ahead 29-10.
Early in the second quarter Corey Peck took a pass into the end zone for a TD. The second half started with Magana scoring and then scoring again after an intercepted pass by Joseph Garcia. Another intercepted pass in the fourth quarter by Isaac Madrea also resulted in a Magana TD.
The Cardinals travel north to Santa Maria Friday for their second game of the season at 7:00 pm. Santa Maria lost their first game Friday to Bishop Diego, 48-0.
