Santa Paula Police arrested two people Monday after a daytime strong-arm robbery that occurred mid-city.
According to Senior Officer Larry Johnson, the incident occurred August 12 at approximately 12:25 p.m. when officers responded to the 300 block of East Ventura Street for a report of a strong-arm robbery.
Upon arrival, the officers were told the robbery of the lone male victim had just occurred.
After the victim gave officers a description of a subject as well as the vehicle used in the robbery, Johnson noted officers were “able to ascertain a suspect... “
Another SPPD Officer was checking the area of Ojai Road and Orchard Street when he located the suspect vehicle occupied by three Hispanic males.
Johnson said the driver of the vehicle and the passenger riding in the rear seat were found to be the suspects in the robbery; officers responded to the scene and recovered the items stolen from the victim.
The driver, Christopher Hurtado, was identified by the victim as the primary suspect in the robbery. He was taken and booked into Ventura County Main Jail on suspicion of robbery and criminal threats.
The rear passenger, a 15-year-old male juvenile, was booked and released to his mother on suspicion of being an accessory after the fact.
The victim was not hurt during the incident.
“Both subjects arrested are members of a Santa Paula tagging crew,” and Johnson stated Hurtado is “currently on active Ventura County Probation.”
