Bring the dog, the family and all other pet lovers and join “Love” - the 16th Annual Pooch Parade, Dog Walk & Pet Expo on Sunday, July 21st at the San Buenaventura State Beach in Ventura.
The event begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. This year’s theme “Love” highlights how to respect, raise and safeguard your canine friend (and yourself) in these hard and trying times.
Last year over 300 walkers turned out and more than 1,400 people attended. The Canine Adoption Rescue League also raised over $28,000. This year we are hoping to raise even more money for the homeless dogs in our Project Second Chance Adoption Program. In 2013, more dogs than ever before need assistance. This is your chance to help them as you help yourself.
This is the only event like it in the Ventura area! There are lots of fun activities planned following the fundraising dog walk along the scenic Ventura Beach Promenade. Participants can watch several pet demonstrations and participate in dog contests. A silent auction has everything you can think of for fun, relaxation and beauty. There are also opportunities to learn about adoptions with local rescue groups, and shop with many pet related vendors.
Walkers are asked to raise pledges for the dogs in the Project Second Chance Adoption Program to offset the many costs of caring for the dogs in their care, including food and supplies, medical expenses, boarding fees and training. Individual teams of four or more compete for fantastic prizes. To obtain a brochure or register a team, call 652-1001 or log on to the website at www.poochparade.org or www.carlvc.org.
Major sponsors of the event include Ohana Animal Hospital, Cumulus Radio and Hubbard & Gruber CPAs.
Canine Adoption and Rescue League is a Ventura County based nonprofit dog and puppy rescue and placement organization founded in 1996. Through June 2011, over 4,000 dogs and puppies have been placed into new homes and given a second chance.
