Smoke House educates kids at Club

Members of the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clara Valley Harvard site were recently visited by the Santa Paula Fire Department. The Firemen spoke to the members about fire safety and about what to do when faced with fires in their homes. Club members were then able put what they learned to use as they experience a simulated situation in which smoke was filling a house.

The Fire department brought along a smoke house. The smoke house is a mobile training unit, used by the fire department educate kids on evacuation procedures during a house fire. “I learned that smoke rises, so I should stay low while getting out of a house that is on fire” said club member Alex Villanueva.
