Published:  February 15, 2013

Take a step back in time as The Restless Hillfillies perform an acoustic concert on Friday, March 15, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at The Museum of Ventura County’s Agriculture Museum. Voted #1 in the Folk and Bluegrass division of the 2012 VC Music Awards, The Restless Hillfillies share original songs based on Ventura County residents and events, as well as popular folk standards. Admission to the concert is $10 for the general public and $5 for museum members. Refreshments and a no-host bar will be available. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. and seating is first come, first seated.

Hillfillies are mountain girls who create their own culture, enjoy social gatherings, and love music from years past. Mary Z. Wilson plays guitar, autoharp, mountain dulcimer, and banjo ukulele, Karen Orser contributes on banjo and fiddle, and Rosie Tower plucks the bass and guitar. Members of the group have played at Telluride Festival, Napa Valley Folk Festival and Ramona Days. Together they have played at Zoey’s in Ventura, Ojai Day, and the Santa Paula Theater Center. They will be joined for this performance by musicians Dan Wilson and Barney Tower.

The Museum of Ventura County’s Agriculture Museum is located in historic downtown Santa Paula at 926 Railroad Avenue, Santa Paula, California. Hours are 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. General admission is $4 adults, $3 seniors, $1 children ages 6-17. Free for Museum of Ventura County members and children ages 5 and younger. Paid events include free admission to the galleries, and the first Sunday of every month is free general admission to the public. For more information, go to www.venturamuseum.org or call (805) 525-3100.
