A one-week vacation at a Faria Beach house, relaxing in a Hawaiian condo, lunch interrupting a round-trip private flight to Catalina Island and more are ready for the lucky bidders at Saturday’s Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Clara Valley 9th Annual Dinner Auction.

According to B&GCSCV CEO Jan Marholin, “Masks are encouraged” for guests to wear to better enjoy this Mardi Gras-themed evening.

Tickets are only $80 each for the February 16 celebration to be held at the Saticoy Country Club, which will be transformed into a night of Mardi Gras with touches of authentic New Orleans décor in the traditional purple, green and gold. “We’re really excited about the theme - everyone knows Mardi Gras and how fun it is,” said Marholin.

Guests will enjoy the spectacular views from the hilltop Saticoy County Club - located in nearby Somis - where the soirée will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the “Bourbon Street Cocktail Hour” and the 6 p.m. opening of the “All That Jazz” Silent Auction. The “King’s Dinner” will rate this event “Fat Saturday,” and the Mardi Gras Live Auction will offer a bounty of delightful items.

The highest bidder on one unique prize will be a sky-high winner, as “Judy Phelps of CP Aviation will fly two people to Catalina Island and buy them lunch,” said Marholin. “Lucky bidders will also have the opportunity to win a 24-bottle wine ‘cellar’... and it will be filled with wine! Another unique auction items is that famed Saticoy Country Club Chef Jeff Downey will hold a cooking class for eight at your home.”

Historical and rare framed front pages from the Santa Paula Chronicle circa 1930-1940, restaurant gift certificates, half a pig from Old Fashioned Butcher, Men of Mesquite BBQ Dinner for 16 at Rancho Filoso, dinner and wine tasting for 12 at Moonridge Ranch, lunch with Supervisor Kathy Long and much more will be featured in the Live and Silent Auctions. Auctioneer Steve Hamann of San Diego will again oversee the Live Auction.

Marholin said those who would like to attend should not hesitate to get their tickets, a portion of which is tax-deductible. “We are excited about having a spectacular evening at Saticoy County Club,” and guests are asked to dress in cocktail attire. And, said Marholin, “don’t forget the theme is Mardi Gras, so masks are encouraged!”

The mission of the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clara Valley, said Marholin, “is to inspire and enable all youth, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens.” The club serves hundreds of children in the valley communities of Fillmore, Piru and Santa Paula.
