Fillmore came out with a lot of energy in the JV game and capitalized on a Santa Paula mistake. The score was 1-0 Fillmore after only three minutes of play.
Ten minutes later Francisco Castro made a nice through pass to Humberto Garcia. He beat a defender and scored on a shot from 20 yards out into the far corner. The final score was 1-1.
The varsity game also started very fast. Santa Paula missed on its first three chances and 25 minutes into the game, Javier Aguilar dribbled the ball past two defenders and scored on a left footed shot from 20 yards away.
In the second half, Giovanny Acosta beat his defender down the line and crossed it. Ricky Zamarron found himself on the end of it as he poked it in with his right foot. Minutes later Acosta made another cross that found Jose Carmen Magana for an easy tap in. In the final two minutes, Eric Salgado took a free kick from 25 yards out that found the corner of the net. The final score was 4-0 for the Cardinals.
