Arthur Miller’s mid-century masterpiece kicks off season 2013 at SP Theater Center

The Santa Paula Theater Center will kick off their 2013 season with the timeless classic DEATH OF A SALESMAN by Arthur Miller from Feb. 8 through Mar. 17 on its Main Stage, 125 So. 7th St. in Santa Paula.
DEATH OF A SALESMAN has been hailed by critics as possibly the best play written about the American experience in the 20th Century. Performances are at 8 pm Friday and Saturday and 2:30 pm on Sundays.
Winner of the Pulitzer Prize and numerous Tony Awards, DEATH OF A SALESMAN considers the ordinary man’s struggle to be extraordinary in life and to achieve the American Dream. Set in New York City in the late 1940’s, this drama focuses on the Loman family’s struggles together and separately to find happiness and success in a world in the midst of post war change. Led by father and husband Willy’s vision of life, the Lomans perceive their lives as alternately an opportunity for continuing hope and the inevitability of despair.
Directing this SPTC production is Artistic Director David Ralphe with Karl Krause stage managing. Designers Mike Carnahan, Gary Richardson, and Barbara Pedziwiatr will illuminate the production with their sets, lights and costumes. Leslie Nichols is the producer.
The extraordinary cast of DEATH OF SALESMAN will be led by Taylor Kasch as Willy Loman and features Anna Maria Strickland as Linda, Eric J. Stein as Biff, Eric Mello as Happy, Eric Burton as Bernard, Brenda Evans as The Woman, Seth Oserin as Charley, W. David Wright as Ben, Peter Krause as Howard, Brad Strickland as Stanley, Megan McCorkle as Miss Forsythe, and Maria-Isabella Rojas as Letta.
Rounding our the 2013 season will be Sarah Ruhl’s IN THE NEXT ROOM from April 19 – May 26, Pamela Parker’s SECOND SAMUEL from June 28 – August 4, Tom Stoppard’s ARCADIA from September 6 – October 13 and Mark Stein’s AT LONG LAST LEO from November 15 – December 22. DEATH OF A SALESMAN will play on Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 pm, and Sunday matinees at 2:30 Feb. 8-Mar. 17.
