The Oxnard Gem and Mineral Society will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 6 in the Ventura Room of the Oxnard Community Center, 800 Hobson Way, Oxnard.

The program will be a presentation on “America’s Opal – the Spencer Opal” by member Diane Cook. Members from the Tri-Clubs traveled over 1,000 miles to be the last rock hounders to mine at the Spencer Opal Mines in Spencer, Idaho. Diane will talk on this beautiful gem. Learn how the opal is formed, how they mine the opal, and how to make a triplet.
