Stories and songs from around the world are stirred into “Stone Soup & Other Stories,” an interactive performance for all ages, at the Museum of Ventura County’s Martin V. and Martha K. Smith Pavilion on Saturday, February 2 at 3:00 p.m.
The performance by the Pushcart Players is best for children ages 4 and older. General admission is $10 for adults, $8 for children through age 17, and includes entry into all museum galleries. Museum member cost is $10, but includes one free child admission ($8 for each additional child). Space is limited. For paid reservations, call 805-653-0323 x 7.
During “Stone Soup & Other Stories” the audience will be encouraged to join in the singing and dancing. This is the museum’s first presentation for this season’s Family Fun At The Museum series. The Pushcart Players, an award winning professional theater company for young audiences, also performed last year’s sold out “Peter & the Wolf.”
Two other Family Fun At The Museum events are scheduled this spring at the Museum of Ventura County. On Saturday, March 23, a performance of “Mime Over Matter” by The Chameleons breaks the traditional rules of mime theater with sound effects, music and even dialogue, while following the misadventures of two oblivious tourists. On Saturday, April 13 the Eckerd Theater Company presents “Woodland Tales,” sharing Native American tales about animals in a storytelling experience where audience and actors sit in the round together.
The Museum of Ventura County is located at 100 East Main Street in downtown Ventura. Hours are 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Admission to the exhibitions is $4 adults, $3 seniors, $1 children 6-17, members and children under 6 are free. Paid events include free admission to the galleries, and the first Sundays of every month are free general admission for the public. For more museum information go to www.venturamuseum.org or call 805-653-0323.
