SPPD: Woman suspected of DUI, hit-and-run, involved in second collision

A Santa Paula woman suspected of being under the influence of alcohol allegedly hit a parked vehicle and took off Thursday afternoon, only to cause a second collision near a busy intersection. According to Santa Paula Police Sgt. Cody Madison, the incident occurred December 27 at 3:22 p.m.
Madison said, “We got four to five calls from people regarding a woman driving a blue Chevrolet Camaro erratically” in the 500 block of North 12th Street who callers reported had hit a parked truck. The callers reported that after the Camaro hit the truck it then “fled the scene” headed south.
Several witnesses followed the woman. “It wasn’t a pursuit” and high speed was not involved, but when the female driver of the Camaro attempted to make a right turn onto East Harvard Boulevard “she collided with another vehicle.”
Santa Paula Police and Fire EMTs responded to the scene, where they found the driver of the Camaro, 52-year-old Gregoria Guerrero of Santa Paula, complaining of neck and back pain. Guerrero, the only person injured, was transported by ambulance to Santa Paula Hospital where she was treated in the Emergency Room and later released.
Madison said the woman is suspected of driving under the influence and hit-and-run. The first charge will depend on the result of blood testing, but Guerrero will face charges for the hit-and-run witnessed by several people.
Guerrero’s Camaro, said Madison received, “moderate damage... not a total, but not something you’re probably going to drive away from” the scene of a collision.
