The trustees of the new Santa Paula Unified School District will hold their first meeting of 2013 on January 3 at the Community Center.

The board was elected in the November election and were sworn in earlier this month.  The January meeting will start at 6:00 p.m. with a possible closed session and the regular meeting is set for 7:00 p.m.  At the last meeting it was requested that they meet in closed session in January to discuss potential personnel or negotiation issues.  County Superintendent of Schools Stanley Mantooth has researched the request with the District Attorney and will discuss the legality of these closed session issues.  Public comments will also be accepted on the closed session items.

In the regular meeting the board will discuss the process and criteria for selection of a superintendent, as well as hiring a board consultant and legal counsel.  They may also select a vice president for the board.  There are also other routine items on the agenda.
