Members of the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clara Valley recently attended a science conference held at U.C. Santa Barbara. The Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (S.T.E.M.) conference was held for young women between the grades of 6 and 12.
The conference offered a fun, inspiring, and motivational day geared toward increasing the number of women in STEM fields. The featured keynote speaker was Dr. Anita Sengupta, a NASA scientist who worked on the Mars Curiosity Rover.
The club members were also invited to participate in creative, hands on science workshops during the day. “We had a fun day and I learned that I can reach my goals if I try hard enough,” said Boys & Girls Club member Ofellia Qualls.
