Lady Cardinals dominate visiting San Marcos teams

The Lady Cardinal JV and varsity basketball teams triumphed over the visiting San Marcos girls this week.

The varsity celebrated a 43-31 victory. Coach Mark Blankenship said, “The Lady Cardinals buckled down on defense in the second half, not allowing a 3-point basket and outscoring San Marcos 15-8 in the fourth quarter.”

Leading the way for the Santa Paula varsity:

Kayla Stockton 12 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 blocks, 2 free throws. Elissa Rico 5 points, 14 rebounds, 4 steals, 5 assists, 5 blocks, one 3 point basket and 2 free throws. Ciara Ramirez 5 points, 2 rebounds, 1 steal, 3 assists, 1 free throw. Lizzette Ramirez 1 rebound, 2 steals, 2 assists, 1 block. Cyerra Vasquez 8 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 assists. Felicia Magana 9 points, 6 rebounds, 1 steal, 6 assists, 3 free throws. Sierra Blair 4 points, 3 rebounds, 4 free throws.

The JV won their game by a wide margin, taking a 44-17 victory.
