The Santa Paula Jethawks will be hosting a Men’s 1-Pitch Tournament this Saturday at Santa Paula’s Harding Park to help raise money for 14-Under player Keshaun Mata who is undergoing treatment at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles for a second bout of cancer.
At the age of 5 in 2005 Keshaun was diagnosed with Peripheral Neph Nerve Sheath Tumor and he had to have his right foot amputated from the ankle down. In October 2012, the doctors discovered cancer in his lung, chest cavity and in his hip muscles, so Keshaun is once again undergoing chemotherapy and will have radiation and surgery in the near future.
Keshaun is a member of Santa Paula Little League (5 time all star), Santa Paula Youth Football Seniors, Santa Paula Jethawks baseball, Isbell Middle School Basketball, Santa Paula Recreation Basketball, and former player of the VC Warriors Baseball teams. He continues to play sports, keeps good grades and has an amazing attitude.
Cancer has not defined him; he has defined what cancer should not be! The Jethawks are raising money to help Keshaun and his family during this difficult time. This is a 1 pitch format, $300.00 per team. They will have a full snack bar, raffle items and bake sale.
