The Santa Paula Society of the Arts 12th Annual Christmas/Holiday Boutique is right around the corner, and this year you’ll have only one day to shop the goodies.
The Christmas Boutique will be held Saturday, November 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Depot Gallery, 200 E. Santa Barbara Street.
According to Christmas Boutique Coordinator Kammy Echiribel, this year’s boutique will feature handmade “jewelry, arts and crafts, knickknacks and small paintings.... This year we will have mostly jewelry,” always popular with buyers shopping for gifts or a treat for themselves.
Known for the unique, the boutique has also been known to offer quilts, needlework, cards and Christmas ornaments among many other items, all at wallet friendly prices. Participating artists include members of the Santa Paula Society of the Arts as well as talented non-members.
And there will be some unique items: those interested in local history and nostalgia will enjoy “older collectibles, Santa Paula related items” that Echiribel said are sure to go quickly. Echiribel designs and makes jewelry such as bracelets, earrings and necklaces, some with semi-precious stones.
Those used to attending the annual sale will have to remember that this year they have only one day to enjoy the boutique, which helps the Santa Paula Society of the Arts to fund scholarships.
The Santa Paula Society of the Arts Gallery and Gift Shop located in the historic Depot is open Saturday and Sunday noon to 4 p.m., and Echiribel said artists are now taking part in “Out On the Deck” where a boutique is set up on a regular basis. “So far we’ve been doing it once a month,” opening a mini-boutique under a popup tent.
Echiribel said the “Out On the Deck” boutiques are coordinated with “big events” held locally, and one is planned for the first Sunday in December when the Fillmore & Western Railway’s vintage steam engine will pull into the Depot. But for now she’s busy finalizing Saturday’s Christmas Boutique.
Echiribel said volunteers to help out at the sale as well as more artists with work to sell are being sought. Those interested can call Echiribel at 805-377-5928 or Michelle Smith at 525-1964.
Echiribel added, “We have to know if artists are interested as soon as possible so we can have enough tables for everyone. Artists can still call us and get things in the boutique if they like - we’ll make room for more! Together let’s make this year’s boutique a huge success.”
