Santa Paula News
Published:  November 07, 2012

Grey Law is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing the highest quality legal advice and information to the over 140,000 senior citizens living in Ventura County.

Michael Williams, Attorney at Law and director of Grey Law, and the Ventura County Area Agency on Aging are currently offering LIFE classes for Ventura County seniors.

The comprehensive "LI.F.E.” class (Legal Information For Elders) is a three-hour educational seminar highlighting areas of concern for Ventura County’s senior community. Topics include: Identifying Legal Needs; Grandchildren and Legal Relationships; Elders at Risk; Legal Documents for Elders; Resolving Housing Disputes; Communication, Hiring Legal Professionals; When to Use the Court System and Community Resources.

Attendees receive a comprehensive workbook free of charge that is utilized during the presentation and contains all the information they might need to refer to at a later date. Classes are free and a schedule of the dates, times and locations can be obtained by calling the Ventura County Area on Aging offices or the Law Offices of Grey Law.

Grey Law was founded in 1979 by volunteers and provides year-round free assistance to individuals and non-profit groups who otherwise have limited access to legal services. The goal is to help clients resolve their legal problems and help them preserve their independence, hope and dignity.

The types of cases that Grey Law can assist seniors with include government benefits such as Social Security, 551 Medi-Care and Medi-Cal. They offer “long-term care” counseling for when a spouse or family member may be going into a nursing home. Grey Law also assists with Consumer Matters, Powers of Attorney and Advanced Healthcare Directives.

Seniors who are in need of legal services are encouraged to call the Grey Law Offices for an appointment. The legal team currently visits the Senior Centers throughout Ventura County including: Camarillo, Moorpark, Oxnard, Ojai, Santa Paula, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, and  Ventura. They can be reached at 805-658-2266 as well as on the web at: greylaw.us.
