VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: We are in the process of forming one or more Civitan clubs in the Santa Paula/Ventura/Oxnard area.

Civitan International was formed in 1917 in the city of Birmingham, Alabama. Our primary focus is helping those individuals who are either developmentally or physically disabled (think of Special Olympics athletes). But if we see a need in our community that is NOT being met by individuals or other service groups, we do the best we can to fulfill that need.

We are looking for individuals over 18 who want to help those people who are in need, whether it is by writing a check or “hands on” labor. As an example, one club has built over 200 wheelchair ramps for disabled persons. Another example: the California District of Civitan recently donated 380 pounds of canned goods or non-perishable packaged food to Food Share in Oxnard. This is the fourth year in a row that we have done this for Food Share.
