If you’re getting ready for frolic and fiends at Saturday’s Moonlight at the Ranch VI: “Creatures of the Night!” and want a reserved table for feasting you’d better hurry - reserved tables are going fast!
Also, you’d better move as fast as a werewolf if you want to be the “afterlife of the party” by making prepaid online reservations. This service will close Friday at 1 p.m., although there are still plenty of outlets where you can pick your tickets up or even charge by phone.
Tickets are only $60 each for this crazy Monsters Ball benefiting the Santa Paula Police & Fire Foundation and Chamber of Commerce. If you don’t purchase tickets in advance, but are dying to attend, there will be a limited number of tickets available at the door for $75 each.
Honorary chairmen of this year’s September 22 event are Bela Lugosi (“Dracula”) and Boris Karloff (“Frankenstein’s Monster”). Bela Lugosi Jr. and Sara Karloff will be special guests at this Moonlight tribute to the immortal characters created by their late fathers.
This year Moonlight - Ventura County’s signature celebration - will start with the no-host cocktails (6 p.m. to 7 p.m.) at Limoneira Park/Bocce Ball Courts. You’ll enjoy “bubbling concoctions,” including Bloody Marys (buy one for Count Dracula!) and Karl Strauss Brewery’s famous and hearty “Oktoberfest” - the only Bavarian beer poured at Dr. Frankenstein’s castle.
At 7 p.m. guests will “pass on” to the “spooktacular” Courtyard (between the ranch’s headquarters and packing house) for hearty tastings of fine cuisine from dozens of topflight regional restaurants - from ethic dishes and American fare to meats to sweets and everything in between!
Don’t be spooked but remember: Reserved “feasting” tables are only available at the Santa Paula Times, 944 E. Main St., Santa Paula or charging tickets by phone (MC & VISA), 805-525-1890.
Feel like dancing on a grave? At 8 p.m. there will be monster mashing by that ghoulishly great band Men on the Moon! And don’t forget the screamingly great Raffle and Silent Auctions!
From Dracula and Frankenstein’s monster to “Ghostbusters,” anything with a monstrous touch will be the perfect way to attend Moonlight. We promise to scare up an unforgettable evening.
Not up to dressing as your favorite Creature? Don’t let your mood be in a Black Lagoon - any creature of the night is welcome, from Disco Queen to PJ wearers; you can even come as yourself, casual to dressy!
You’ll have a “Scream” of a great time at this adults-only celebration, where you’ll get your zombie on amid numerous displays showcasing the careers of immortal Honorary Chairmen Boris Karloff (most famous as Frankenstein’s Monster - and The Mummy too!) and Lugosi (the first and still only Count Dracula) as well as other scary “Creatures of the Night!”
Tickets - only $60 each! - are available in Santa Paula at the Chamber of Commerce, 200 N. 10th St. (in the historic Depot); The Best of VC Marketplace, 108 N. 10th St.; and the Santa Paula Times, 944 E. Main Street. Tickets are also available at The Wine Rack, 14 S. California St., Ventura. Charge by phone (MC & VISA) at 805-525-1890.
