Remember: Lady Luck is a creature of the night and she might smile on you at Saturday’s Moonlight at the Ranch VI: “Creatures of the Night!” where a lineup of “to die for” prizes are featured in a unique Chinese Raffle!

Close to 40 restaurants will be offering tasty “bites” of their finest cuisine at the celebration, this year returning to Limoneira Park and the historic Courtyard in front of the company’s headquarters.

Guests will vie for a monstrous line up of prizes with a Chinese Raffle (you select what you want to win), and place bids on Silent Auctions - a trip for eight to Paso Robles’ storied Windfall Farms or a SPPD/SPFD SWAT Training Experience and Fire House Dinner.

The September 22 Moonlight will pay tribute to the immortal stars Bela Lugosi (“Count Dracula”) and Boris Karloff (“Frankenstein’s Monster”). Bela Lugosi Jr. and Sara Karloff, the late stars’ children, are the special guests at this “Creatures of the Night!” celebration.

Tickets are only $60 each and include all the tasty tastings! Due to the popularity of the event- which benefits the nonprofit Santa Paula Police & Fire Foundation and Chamber of Commerce - this year guests can reserve a “feasting” table when eight (8) tickets are purchased at the same time. Table reservations are only available at the Santa Paula Times, 944 E. Main St., Santa Paula, or charging by phone, 805-525-1890.

All food, fun, frolic and fiends are included in the ticket price, making Moonlight - already known as Ventura County’s signature celebration - a can’t be beat bargain. And speaking of bargains, the Chinese Raffle will offer an array of “to die for” prizes every Creature will love!

Golfer’s Paradise offers twosomes and foursomes - most with carts included! - at multiple famed area courses and Limoneira golfing accessories; or try for the Ventura Beach Getaway, two nights at the Crowne Plaza on the beach, Rubicon Theater, Wine Rack wine and cheese plate, dine at Café Fiore with a $100 gift card and more! How about a Santa Paula Adventure with two nights of “glamping” in a well-appointed cabin at Ventura KOA, scenic flight with CP Aviation at the controls, two passes for the Fillmore & Western Headless Horseman dinner train, two passes to Magic Mountain and a $25 Texaco gasoline card?

You’ll enjoy music, food, fun and gambling games in Primm, NV with two nights of your choice at Buffalo Bill’s, Primm Valley or Whiskey Pete’s, two tickets for a show and dinner for dinner at Ramon Ayala’s - plus a $25 gas card from Texaco. You’ll be able to Pamper Yourself with a spa package, and there is a Foodie Feast Basket, Horseback Riding with a $300 Patagonia gift card, and more.

There’s even a Creatures of the Night! Count Dracula/Frankenstein’s Monster Gift Basket, a monstrous prize filled with many “to die for” items - from DVDs to T-shirts, Lugosi Wine, books, photos, etc. - donated by Special Guests Lugosi and Karloff.

A Chinese Raffle is where you get to choose which prizes you want to win by placing your tickets in the appropriate bags at one location that will be easily visible at the Moonlight celebration. And a traditional drawing will be held for those who fill out the information on their admission tickets - and the prize is $250!

You’ll be sure to dig our crazy Monsters’ Ball, where “Creatures” will reign from 6 p.m. (Bloody Mary’s and other bubbling cocktail refreshment at no-host bars) at Limoneira Park and Bocce Ball Courts. At 7 p.m. guests will “pass on” to the feasting area, where 40 fabulous restaurants will offer tastings of fine cuisine every zombie will love.

Throughout the evening Moonlight’s no-host bars will feature a famous beer of Karl Strauss Brewery, a generous Moonlight sponsor - the brewery’s notable “Oktoberfest” served in honor of Frankenstein’s Monster, known to crash a few of the seasonable celebrations in search of a cold one. And, of course, among other mixed drinks Bloody Mary’s will also be available in honor of Count Dracula! Drink tickets are only $2 for water and soda, $4 for the Karl Strauss Oktoberfest, and only $6 for mixed drinks and wine.

Feel like dancing on a grave? At 8 p.m. there will be monster mashing with entertainment by that ghoulishly great band Men on the Moon!

From Dracula and Frankenstein’s monster to “Men in Black” or Mom in curlers checking for the monster under the bed anything with a monstrous touch (try just makeup or a Creature accessory) will be the perfect way to attend Moonlight. Or, come as yourself, casual or dressy, however you are most comfortable.

Get your tickets now to attend this adults-only party; you’re always welcome - dead or alive! Tickets - only $60 each! - are also available in Santa Paula at the Chamber of Commerce, 200 N. 10th St. and The Best of VC Marketplace, 108 N. 10th Street. Tickets are also on sale at The Wine Rack, 14 S. California St., Ventura.
