2012 Grand Champion  Lamb

(Top photo) Cassie Bonfil, Santa Paula FFA, worked with her lamb, Roy, for 3 months. The hard work turned into the Grand Champion Lamb at the 2012 Ventura County Fair.  This was Cassie’s first year and her first lamb in the Santa Paula FFA program. Roy weighed 117 pounds when Bonfil began working with the lamb. In the end, Roy weighed 146 pounds and brought $40.00 per pound at the 2012 Livestock auction last Friday. Bonfil will be a sophmore at Santa Paula High School this year. Bonfil is the daughter of Juana Garcia.

2012 FFA Reserve Champion Steer

(Bottom photo) Lauren Shield, a junior at Santa Paula High School, raised a steer for the first time and is a member of the Santa Paula FFA. Her steer, named Wallace, weighed in at 1255 pounds. Wallace and Lauren took the FFA Reserve Champion title. Wallace brought $4.00 per pound at the 2012 Livestock auction last Friday. Lauren is the daughter of Tim and Sylvia Shield.
