Cardinal boys shut out Santa Clara 3-0 in Frontier League opener

The Santa Paula varsity won their Frontier League opener against Santa Clara Wednesday, 3-0.

It was a hard-fought contest from start to finish, but the Saints couldn’t get a run in, even though they loaded the bases at one point. Anthony Jimenez pitched a complete game with 6 strikeouts and 3 walks. He is 1-1 on the season. Top hitters were: Justin Macias 1 hit, 1 run and 1 RBI.  Richard Macias went 1-3, 1 RBI.  Santa Paula is now 3-5 overall and 1-0 in league. The Cardinals scored all 3 runs in the 3rd inning.
