The League of Women Voters of Ventura County invites everyone to join us from 9 a.m. to noon on Thursday, November 17 as we look at “The Federal Role in Education: What is it? What should it be?”

The event will be held in the Department of Education Building, Salon C, 5189 Verdugo Way in Camarillo, and will be followed by an optional lunch and discussion.

This panel presentation and discussion with educators, administrators, school board members, parents and the audience will explore two nationally significant issues facing public education – National Common Core Standards and Funding & Equity. Panelists will include Ventura County Superintendent of Schools Stanley C. Mantooth; Trudy Arriaga, Ed.D., superintendent of the Ventura Unified School District; Stephen P. Blum, president of the Ventura Unified Education Association; Ferial Masry, community leader and high school teacher; and other representatives with valuable perspectives on these education issues.

Coffee and light refreshments will be available in the morning. You may order a box lunch for the afternoon discussion by sending a check for $15 to LWV VC, P.O. Box 787, Ventura, CA 93002, to be received by November 14.
