The Social Justice Fund for Ventura County (SJF) announced a $400,000 campaign to build an endowment supporting social justice in Ventura County. The campaign is supported by The James Irvine Foundation’s generous promise to match local dollars contributed to the endowment over the next three years. The SJF is a grantmaking and education program created and guided by a “Giving Circle” of community donors. The SJF seeks to strengthen social justice in Ventura County by providing education, financial grants and other support to grassroots efforts that address root causes of injustice and remove structural and institutional barriers to social, economic and environmental equity.
The SJF has a successful track record in both fundraising and making grants to grassroots groups that are engaged in community organizing for social change. The SJF just completed its second cycle of grants, distributing $50,000 to local organizations focused on community organizing around key issues of social justice.
