Lady Card JV softball team opens season

The Lady Cardinal JV softball team opened their season at Ventura Wednesday. The Lady Cards lost 8-0 but coach Henry Jacinto says the game was much closer than the score indicates. The Cards were within an inch of catching a fly ball in the 1st inning with two out but it went for a three-run homer. Ventura added one more run in the inning and two unearned runs in the 3rd and 6th innings. They only had four more hits after the 1st inning.Santa Paula managed only two hits off three very good Ventura pitchers. Raeleen Hernandez pitched a great game for Santa Paula. Breanna Macias and Jaymee McInerney had the hits for Santa Paula.
