Ten free Arizona cypress trees will be given to each person from California who joins the Arbor Day Foundation during September 2007.

Ten free Arizona cypress trees will be given to each person from California who joins the Arbor Day Foundation during September 2007. The free trees are part of the nonprofit Foundation’s Trees for America campaign, a program dedicated to environmental stewardship through the planting of trees.“Arizona cypresses were selected for this campaign because of their drought tolerance and their many uses in the home landscape,” said John Rosenow, chief executive of the Foundation. “They lend beauty to their surroundings with their blue-green foliage. They can be used as individual ornamentals, as a windbreak or privacy screen, or as living Christmas trees. They will also add to the proud heritage of California’s 152 Tree City USA communities. For three decades, Tree City USA has supported community forestry across California, and planting these trees will make this tree-planting tradition even stronger.”
The trees will be shipped postpaid between October 15 and December 10, at the right time for planting. The 6- to 10-inch trees are guaranteed to grow or they will be replaced free of charge. Planting instructions are enclosed with each shipment of trees. Members of the Arbor Day Foundation will also receive “The Tree Book,” which includes information about tree planting and care.To receive the free trees, send a $10 membership contribution to Ten Arizona Cypresses, Arbor Day Foundation, 100 Arbor Ave., Nebraska City, NE 68410, by September 30, 2007, or join online at www.arborday.org.
