The Ventura County Health Care Agency (HCA) was one of ten counties in California awarded 10 million dollars in federal funding recently, from the State Department of Health Services. The funding will be used to implement the Access Coverage Enrollment (ACE) Program under the Health Care Coverage Initiative. This Saturday, August 18th, and next Saturday, August 25th, there will be Application Assistance for adults who wish to sign up for the program. The enrollment will take place at the Health Care Agency Public Health Administration office, 2240 E. Gonzalez Road, in Oxnard, from 10:00 a.m., to 4:00 p.m., both days. Those interested in enrolling should bring evidence of legal residency, copy of a utility bill, and a current pay stub (within the last 45 days) or an income tax form/W2.Requirements for enrollment include being a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident, aged 19 to 64 years, who are currently not enrolled in Medi-Cal, AIM, or any other insurance coverage program. Family Income must not exceed 200% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL).The ACE program is not health insurance, or an entitlement program. The ACE Program is a “health coverage” program that will offer uninsured individuals on-going regular access to comprehensive outpatient and inpatient health care services, including medical office visits, immunizations, specialty care, urgent care, prescription drugs, x-ray/lab tests, behavioral health and hospital in-patient services. Services will be offered through the Ventura County Health Care System and the ACE Provider Network. Those individuals that are enrolled into this program will have an established “medical home” and have established Rates and Fees to limit out-of-pocket expenses for health services, reducing barriers to accessing preventive and necessary health care services on a regular basis.
The ACE Program has an annual enrollment fee based on family size and income levels ($100 maximum, annually, per enrollee). Again, participants will have affordable, maximum per visit out-of-pocket expenses. Enrollment is limited and it is anticipated the program will enroll approximately 12,500 individuals. For more information or an application, the public may contact the ACE Enrollment Center at 677-5260 or (888) 343-0533.
