Annual Fire Truck Pull benefits Special Olympics Ventura County

On Saturday, August 11, Ventura County Sheriff’s and Fire Department will host the Annual Fire Truck Pull at Ventura Harbor Village.

On Saturday, August 11, Ventura County Sheriff’s and Fire Department will host the Annual Fire Truck Pull at Ventura Harbor Village. The Fire Truck Pull is being held as part of Ventura Harbor Village’s Marina Days, with the proceeds benefiting Special Olympics Ventura County and an amount going to the Moorpark DARE program.The 4th Annual Fire Truck Pull begins at 10 a.m., with teams of six men and/or women competing for bragging rights and trophies to see who can pull an actual 25,000-pound Ventura County fire truck 25 feet in the quickest time. It will take place on the street in front of the “Village Lawn.”All law enforcement and fire departments, along with gyms, high schools and colleges, businesses, and even individuals are invited to form a team and enter. Early team sign-ups include Ventura County Sheriff’s Main Detention Facility, County Fire Department teams, and Oxnard Police Department.Two attempts at the best time will be combined to determine the winner. Trophies are awarded through 3rd place, and all entrants will receive an event tee shirt.
This year, a Youth Division is being added with teams of six members, ages 10 through 18, pulling an antique fire truck provided by Ding Masters in Ventura. The format will be the same, with the combined total of two pulls determining the winning team.Entry fees for both the adult and youth divisions are $150 per team. In addition, teams are encouraged to obtain sponsor donations and a $500 American Express Card will be awarded for every $2,000 in additional sponsor donations turned in the day of the event.Registration brochures are available through the Special Olympics Ventura County offices at 1559 Spinnaker Dr., Suite 206, Ventura, or call 650-7717 and they will be mailed.
