Services held for SP man killed in solo South Mountain accident

Services were held Thursday for a Santa Paula man who was killed in a June 7 solo accident on South Mountain Road, a crash still under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.

By Peggy KellySanta Paula TimesServices were held Thursday for a Santa Paula man who was killed in a June 7 solo accident on South Mountain Road, a crash still under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.According to a CHP spokesman Jose “Joe” Cabral, 38, was ejected from his Nissan pickup truck along South Mountain Road just south of the 12th Street intersection at about 6 a.m. on Thursday, June 7.The back of Cabral’s pickup truck was ripped away during the accident, according to the CHP spokesman who noted that a passerby notified the agency at 6:06 a.m. of the incident.
No one who witnessed the accident has contacted authorities.Cabral worked in the maintenance department for the Ventura County Community College District.Services for Cabral, who is survived by his father, Jesus Cabral; sisters, Theresa (Marty) Adams, Karen Fleming and family and Kathy Atkins and family as well as other family members, were held Thursday at St. Sebastian Church in Santa Paula.Cabral’s mother, Christina, preceded him in death in 1981.
