Mexican born and long-time resident of Santa Barbara, Alvaro Sumán is bringing his art to Santa Paula.

Mexican born and long-time resident of Santa Barbara, Alvaro Sumán is bringing his art to Santa Paula. Galeria Zapatista proudly presents the fine art and ceramic sculpture of Alvaro Suman. Alvaro has exhibited his work in the Museum of Modern Art in Mexico City; Cuernavaca, Mexico; Casa de la Raza, Santa Barbara; Los Angeles Art Museum; San Francisco Art Museum; among others. Alvaro’s art reflects a style that varies from magical realism to fantastic surrealism and one can clearly see his indigenous Mexican background.An Artist Reception is scheduled for Saturday, December 9, 2006 from 4 to 8 pm. At Galeria Zapatista, 926 East Main Street. Alvaro will be bringing his potter’s wheel and will be demonstrating his unique artistic techniques.The Galeria will be offering a selection of Alvaro’s fine art and various ceramics and jewelry.
